EXAMPLE 5. Find the difference of the place value of two 5’s in 650052.
SOLUTION : The place value of digit 5 in the ten’s place = 50
The place value of digit 5 in the ten thousand’s place = 50000
The required difference = 50000 50 = 49950.

EXAMPLE 7. Write all the three digit numbers using 3, 5, 9 taking each digit only once. Also write the so
formed smallest and the largest number.
SOLUTION : Keeping 3 at the one’s place, three digit numbers are 593 and 953.
Keeping 5 at the one’s place, three digit numbers are 395 and 935.
Keeping 9 at the one’s place, three digit numbers are 359 and 539.
Thus, the required numbers are 593, 953, 395, 935, 359 and 539.
The smallest number is 359 and the largest number is 953.

(a) Thirty crore three thousand three.
(b) Seven hundred two million five thousand five hundred nine.

EXAMPLE 9. What is the product of place values of 2 and 5 in 1326758?
SOLUTION : Place value of 2 in 1326758 = 2 ´ 10,000 = 20,000
Place value of 5 in 1326758 = 5 ´ 10 = 50
\ Their product = 20000 ´ 50 = 10,00,000.
